Maine Good Sams Shirley

A Hearty Thank You to all of those who Attended and to those who Worked so hard  to make the FALL Samboree  a Sucess!

Those Rigs DID Roll Into Town

AND

Something GOOD Happened!

Despite High Fuel Costs RV'rs from Canada and across the U.S.A. (from Maine to Alaska! Now if we only get the Folks from Hawaii to Put Pontoons on their Rigs, We'd have it Made!) rolled into Fryeburg, Maine to declare to the world that what is most important is to enjoy life and, more over, conduct activities that help OTHERS enjoy life too!

The amount of money that was raised for worthy causes is amazing! But the greatest commodities realized can never be scrutinized by the I.R.S.! These were the warm hugs, hearty handshakes, and stories exchanged by friends, old and new!

Yes, we did have a few hours of down pours, but the fact blues skies and sunshine came when we needed them the most was proof positive (to this writer) that we were smiled down upon as if to say 'Well done, good and faithful servants.'

Simply stated, in our humble opinion, the Maine 2008 Fall Samboree goes into the record books as a contender for THE Event of the Year  showing the community what Good Sam'rs are all about!

Annual President's Campout Weekend held Sept 25,26,27,28

From all corners of the state, Chapter Presidents and State Staff met in Ellsworth at Timberland RV Park for analysis of the Spring Samboree, to make preparation for the Fall Samboree in September, and to address important business matters of the organization. (And, of course, to have good food and a good time!)    Yes, the price of fuel at the pump was a topic of discussion, but as it was so eloquently stated,

'You still go on enjoying life.. no matter what!'

Where do we begin saying 'Thank You' to those who made the Spring '08 Samboree a Success?

Do we start with Radio Legend Mr. Bud Sawyer and the World's 'Hottest' Grandma for their Fantastic job in our Game Show Night?

Or, what about 'Lenny' Emery that came to our rescue with about 24 hours notice after an injury forced our original entertainment to cancel? His vocal and keyboard talents left our audience awestruck!

State Director Diane Qualey makes it a point to remind everyone that it's the hard working members of the Maine Chapters that are the life force that makes our Samborees succeed!

And actually, the True Heroes are the hundreds of folks that braved high fuel costs, a 'wee bit of rain', & the inevitable & proverbial bumps in the road; Just so they could be with friends (old & new). From 'just down the road a-piece', to 'half way across the country', and even 'half way around the globe' (Yes, we had guests from Australia!), folks came because they are the essence of the SAMARITAN spirit!

It's because of THEM .. we are proudly able to say,

'When those rigs roll into town,

something Good is going to happen!'
